A Cloud Forest - "Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep" (2010)

A CLOUD FOREST "Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep"

Year: 2010 (2009 internet release)
Genre: Melodic Black Metal
Country: USA

Track List:
  1. As The Sun Descends
  2. Metamorphosis
  3. As Embers Turn To Ashes
DOWNLOAD

Recently, I was contacted by Eric (Contravene, A Cloud Forest), who asked me to download the first release by A Cloud Forest and to review it in my blog. Well, here it is. The sound is surprisingly melodic, and comparable with Alda or Lake Of Blood. Of course I can't compare it with WITTR or Panopticon, but it's good enough for a first release - though all 3 tracks are a bit short (I used to >6-7 minutes-long tracks in atmospheric black metal). Hope for a full-length release by them in the future, it's good to see more and more members of anarcho-punk community going black metal.
See you next week, stay tuned!

blending crust and black metal and delivering a lyrical concept of a nightmerous cyborg vision, not "too evil" and dark but still good metal thrashing madness

  3. Castilian: yes, I got it not long ago, but I haven't listened to it yet. Blood Of Martyrs seems to be a controversial band, since they're reportedly somehow related to so-called "national anarchism".

Billy: thank you for all these links, especially for the Wastelander link! Of course, I'd like to hear any stuff from Fall of the Bastards.

  4. You can upload the album of Blood of Martyrs?

Hace tiempo que lo busco y al ponerme en contacto con ellos me dijeron que no les quedaban copias.

  5. It has come to my attention that Blood of Martyrs have somehow been cast as a 'National Socialist' band, so I thought I would clear up any misconceptions.
Anarchist - yes. Nationalist? Not unless you reduce the 'nation' to a very fundamental essence. If a nation could exist in the sense of willfull population of like-minded collectivists engaged in voluntary trade (ideally) / commerce (inevitably) with similarly constructed units, and that 'nation' truly served the interests of its constiuents / members, then and only then could any sense of 'nationalism' be reasonable. In this context, nationalism would be essentially an extension of familial / tribal bonds, and it could potentially be a positive manifestation of (wo)man's instinctive tendency to 'protect one's own'. As it is, nations are artificial templates of economic and social control that serve only the power elite, at the great expense of the masses. I promote personal elitism, but disdain racism, bigotry, misogyny, etc - but all views are tolerated, as long as one's behavior is respectful. The enforcement of ideologies is fundamentally fascist, and has no place in a free and voluntary society - the society we hope to construct.
Thank you for providing a forum for discussing this issue, and please feel free to continue to upload / distribute our music at will.
If you are interested, a split with Wheels Within Wheels (labelmate of Panopticon) will be out in the near future on Lundr Records, and a full length featuring the vocals of Jarboe (Swans, Neurosis) is in the works.

    Cheers, Markus
